File Exchange is eBay's bulk-listing upload: you send a CSV, eBay creates the listings. Listrune builds that file from a batch. It is an alternative to publishing directly from Listrune — useful if you would rather review a file before anything goes live.
The template targets eBay.de today. SiteID Germany, euros, German item-specific names. Other eBay sites use different column names for the same fields, so the file will not transfer to eBay.com unchanged. Publishing from inside Listrune covers eBay.com, .co.uk, .ca, .com.au, .de and .at.
Before your first upload
- File Exchange has to be switched on for your account, in Seller Hub.
- You need business policies — payment, shipping and returns — because the file references them rather than describing them.
- Start with two or three rows, not a full batch. Column names change per category and per site, and a rejected file tells you much less than a rejected pair of rows.
Uploading
- Export the batch from Listrune — the file downloads as
ebay-listings-….csv. - In Seller Hub go to Reports → Upload.
- Pick the file and upload it. eBay processes it and returns a result report.
- Read the report. eBay reports per row, so a partial success is normal and tells you which rows to fix.
Do not open the file in Excel and save it again before uploading. Excel rewrites the encoding and drops the byte-order mark, and every umlaut in a German set name arrives mangled.
What is in the file, and why
The template was rebuilt against a File Exchange file that eBay actually accepted. Each of the points below cost a failed upload before it was fixed, so they are worth knowing if you ever edit the file by hand:
| Detail | Why |
|---|---|
A metadata line before the header: Info,Version=1.0.0,Template=fx_category_template_EBAY_DE | eBay expects it ahead of the column row. |
UTF-8 byte-order mark, and CC=UTF-8 in the Action column | Both are needed, or umlauts break. |
Category 183454 | "Einzelne Trading Card Game Karten" — one category for every game, not one per game. |
CD:Kartenzustand = Near Mint or Better - (ID: 400010) | A condition descriptor, mandatory on singles since 2024. The value is English even on eBay.de. |
C:Sprache = German | Also English, not "Deutsch". |
Game is Pokemon TCG | No accent, and the suffix matters. |
C:Edition, not C:Set. C:Oberflächeneffekt, not C:Finish | The obvious names do not exist. |
C:Kartennummer = 022 | The bare printed number, not 022/191. |
All 110 columns of the reference header are reproduced in order. eBay tolerates a subset, but matching a file known to work removes a whole class of question, and the empty columns cost nothing.
Rows Listrune holds back
A row is left out of the file, with the reason shown on the card, when:
- the price is under 1,00 €
- eBay.de refuses a fixed-price listing below it. Listrune's own floor is 0,25 €, so cheap commons are exportable to Cardmarket but not to eBay.
- there is no photo
- eBay's picture policy does not allow database artwork on a used item. Photograph the card, or add a photo to the row.
- the card has no price
- Nothing to list at.
After the upload
On Standard or higher, connect your eBay account in Listrune and it will read your orders and mark the cards that sold, whether they were listed from the CSV or published directly.
